Simon Moss Australia
Simon Moss is 23 and holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia, in International Studies and Psychology. Simon is the Chief Operations Officer of the Oaktree Foundation, an entirely youth-run international aid and development organisation. He is also on the board of Vibewire, a youth media and arts organisation dedicated to public debate. Simon’s advocacy work in the youth development sector has seen him consult with local, state and federal government in Australia, including a year on the National Youth Roundtable. His work has taken him to Cambodia, Thailand, South Africa and Ghana. He speaks regularly at conferences and events and has lectured at Monash University, Melbourne.

Armin Stähli Switzerland
Armin Stähli is 21 years old and grew up near Thun in Switzerland. He is currently studying international affairs at the University of St.Gallen. In 2006 he won an award in the Swiss national competition for young scientists and won first prize at the Swiss Foundation for Democracy Award for his essay on the Turkish-Armenian conflict. He is passionate about travelling and has ventured into areas such as Pakistan, Syria, the Russian Taiga and Tibet. He is a member of the Switzerland-Armenia association as well as the political forum for security issues at the University of St.Gallen. He just finished his one year military career and is a lieutenant of the Swiss Armed Forces. One of his many ambitions for the future is to join the Swiss diplomatic corps. He tries to live true to his personal maxim: “A ship in the harbour is safe, but that’s not what ships were made for.”

Yoo-Sun Andrea Choi South Korea
Yoo-Sun Andrea Choi is 21 years old and has lived in Korea, Japan and the USA. She will be graduating this February from the Division of International Studies at Ewha Womans University in Seoul, South Korea. She has been an active member of the student council and has won awards in national and international parliamentary debating tournaments as a member of the Ewha Debating Society (EDiS). Alongside her academic career, Yoo-Sun has been engaged in a variety of different extracurricular activities such as working at the APEC SOM1 meetings in 2005, running workshops and lecturing in Korea and Taiwan, working for NGOs and taking part in numerous forums concerning international politics, economics and culture – to name only a few. Yoo-Sun is an amateur photographer and likes to travel and collect quotes. She is particularly interested in security and governance issues concerning the Northeast Asian region as well as education for all. She will be working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea as of February 2007 and her personal motto is: “Be the change you wish to see in the world!”

Yossra Taha Egypt
Yossra Mohamed Taha is 22 years of age and lives in Cairo, Egypt. Yossra graduated from Cairo University with a major in political science and is currently pursuing a masters degree in international relations. Alongside her studies, Yossra has been involved actively in simulation models of the UN, the Arab League, The American Congress and the EU. She has also volunteered at the Agency of the Friends of Cancer and Resala, “the message”, two Egyptian charities. She has also done several training sessions for Al-Ahram centre for Political and Strategic Studies, al-Ahram Weekly newspaper, and The Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency. During her studies Yossra travelled to the USA, Greece and Germany to attend educational conferences and seminars. Presently she works as a teaching-assistant in the faculty of economics and political science at the University of Cairo.

Jad Kheir Israel
Jad Kheir is 21 years old and was born in Northern Israel to an Arab Druze family. He is a third year medical student at Technion medical school in Haifa. Jad has worked as a volunteer for various organisations dedicated to helping children with learning difficulties. He now works at the Center for Humanistic Education at the Ghetto Fighters House, a research center and museum dedicated to Jewish resistance to the Holocaust. The Center brings together young people from Jewish and Arab backgrounds to develop a shared understanding of the future of Israel’s society. Jad has travelled around the world as the Centre’s ambassador. Jad is also involved in a project raising awareness of public health issues.

Chanda Ghoorah Mauritius
Chanda Ghoorah is 24 years old and lives in Mauritius. At present she works as Youth Officer at the Ministry of Youth and Sports. As a Youth Officer she plans and implements programmes for young people in general and is involved in voluntary work and community service activities. Chanda holds a degree in Management and is pursuing further studies in Social Development. Chanda was appointed Secretary of a promising Co-operative Credit Union in 2003 and has since been heavily involved in civil society issues.
